Prithvi is a New York City-based artist and photographer whose journey began at the age of 13 when his sister handed him a Nikon D3300—a camera that has since become central to his evolving practice. After earning a degree in Fashion Communication from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, India (2022), Prithvi moved to New York to pursue an MFA in Photography at Pratt Institute, immersing himself in opportunities for both personal and artistic exploration.
Prithvi’s photography delves into the candid and intimate moments found in fleeting encounters on dating apps, challenging the conventional understanding of safe spaces. His work captures the vulnerability and trust within these interactions, offering a raw portrayal of connection in the digital age. By intertwining archival family photographs, Prithvi also explores the complex tension between his own queer identity and the heteronormative expectations of his father, crafting a compelling narrative of identity, intimacy, and familial conflict.
He has recently exhibited his work at Clamp Gallery and Pratt Manhattan Gallery in Chelsea, New York, where his powerful imagery continues to resonate with diverse audiences.
